Job Description:

This position is responsible for creating compelling, high quality imagery in support of the University of Florida’s (UF) strategic goals. Imagery includes (but is not limited to) studio portraits, environmental portraits, product or still life photography, videography, and event coverage. Assignments include photographing and filming projects for UF internal and external clients (as determined by the department), and managing digital assets and maintaining the stock photo and video library, including (but not limited to) metadata and key wording. Responsible for maintaining files and backup systems for all images, videos, and multimedia produced by the department.


[45%] - Plan, photograph/film, edit, and deliver high quality, creative and visually engaging imagery that supports UF brand identity.  Serve as multimedia producer (including portrait, commercial, scientific, and news photography/videography assignments) to analyze and decide how to best compose subjects based on clients’ needs
- Create fresh, exciting, and contemporary photography and video solutions that strategically support UF editorial content and documentary journalistic needs
- Use assorted photography/video techniques and equipment to capture compelling imagery
- Utilize and share expert knowledge of custom studio and location lighting equipment for assignments (as needed)
- Assist with special events, supporting and mentoring other staff members (as needed)
- Research trends in visual communications and photojournalism and makes recommendations for visual style and tone of projects
- Help maintain, organize, and make recommendations for professional photography/video equipment and related resources
- Handle all phases of assigned projects from concept through final delivery
- Transport equipment or travels to locations via state or personal vehicle for photography/video assignments

[25%] - Uses photo-enhancing software for optimum results
- Edit original digital-based photography and videos for priority and high-visibility assignments
- Digitally modify and enhance images and videos using all current industry software for optimum results for print, web, and other media
- Edit images in a timely fashion to meet project and other team member needs
- Use leading industry-standard image editing and file management program

[15%] - Maintains web-based stock library
- Update image library and web site software on regular basis (when needed)
- Help maintain other areas of the departmental web site, including updates to the event photo gallery

[10%] - Communicate with clients and UF officials regarding requested photography and video assignments to ensure proper coordination for timely completion of assignments, and to ensure images and videos meet the clients’ specifications

[05%] - Test and research new equipment and photographic techniques
- Responsible for regular and routine maintenance and cleaning of all photographic and video equipment
- Maintain regular inventories of all photography and video equipment and supplies

Minimum Requirements:

High school diploma and three years of relevant experience. Appropriate vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Experience in Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, Premiere, After Effects, Capture One Pro, and Davinci Resolve
- Experience in digital imaging techniques, editing, and software
- Basic videography and video editing experience

- Advanced knowledge of photographic techniques and lighting
