Job Description:

This employee will be the database manager and statistical analyst for research studies performed by faculty of the Division of Nephrology, Hypertension, & Renal Transplantation at the Department of Medicine, at University of Florida under the direction of Dr. Ozrazgat Baslanti, Dr.Bihorac, and Dr.Segal.  This will include providing services in study design, data management, data analysis, project administration, and academic publication.  Additionally, the position will have a role assisting in the data management and statistical analysis of research performed by the PRISMAp, under the direction of Azra Bihorac, MD MS and Tezcan Ozrazgat Baslanti, PhD, at the Department of Medicine.  The employee’s primary role includes database management, analysis, producing tables and figures for academic presentations and manuscripts.

Essential Functions: 

Work with Division of Nephrology, Hypertension, & Renal Transplantation faculty and fellows on research projects, contributing data analysis to support research efforts. Maintain management of the research databases such as USRDS, SRTR, and local databases.  Develop an action plan for analysis. Implement the action plan by conducting statistical data analyses (e.g., descriptive statistics, bivariate analyses, regression modeling, survival analysis, longitudinal data analysis, etc) and interpret results. Prepare graphs, tables and figures. Provide analysis using SAS and R programming or other related statistical analysis software. Provide consultations for biostatistical questions to the fellows and faculty.  Produce abstracts and for scientific meetings and methodology for papers for scientific journals. Present papers at scientific meeting. Learning new procedures in SAS and programming packages in R or other programs or learning new analysis techniques may be required.

Collaborate with the team members in PRISMAp research team. Maintain management of the research databases. Manipulate and link large relational databases. Develop an action plan for analysis. Implement the action plan by conducting statistical data analyses (e.g., descriptive statistics, bivariate analyses, regression modeling, survival analysis, longitudinal data analysis, etc) and interpret results. Prepare graphs, tables and figures. Provide analysis using SAS and R programming or other related statistical analysis software. Produce abstracts and for scientific meetings and methodology for papers for scientific journals. Present papers at scientific meeting. Learning new procedures in SAS and programming packages in R or other programs such as Phyton or learning new analysis techniques may be required.

Advertised Salary:

$45,000 - $55,000

Minimum Requirements:

Master's degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience; or a bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and four years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in Statistics/Biostatistics or equivalent experience with two years of appropriate experience. 
  • Proficiency in statistics to analyze data sets and proficiency in SAS and R programming and Data Management.
  • Experience with varied statistical methods. 
  • Experience with manipulating and linking large relational databases. 
  • Experience with statistical programming languages, other programming languages, operating systems and database programs. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and communicate with employees of varying levels of computer expertise.   
  • Desired:  Experience with multiple statistical programming languages (especially proficiency in SAS and R, and knowing other languages such as Python or STATA are plus), operating systems (Windows and UNIX) and database programs (especially SQL Server).
