Job Description:

Serve as a consultant regarding employee relations actions. Provide guidance to departments on disciplinary actions and other personnel-related actions.  Review, recommend, and draft appropriate disciplinary actions for supervisors.  Provide proper direction to departments from point of request to delivery of action.  Properly collect backup documentation, create documents to be administered, track documents, and record actions in employee's file.  Assist with progressive disciplinary actions, including oral reprimands, written reprimands, suspensions, and dismissals.  Interpret, communicate, and ensure compliance with applicable employment laws, University of Florida (UF) regulations, collective bargaining agreements (CBA), policies, and procedures.

Review and coordinate department requests, including post-doctorate courtesy notices, time-limited requests, and non-renewal requests for faculty- and staff-level positions. 

Coordinate the probationary review program for educational and general (E&G)/auxiliaries, including retention, extension, or dismissal actions of the probationary employees. Coordinate full-time equivalency (FTE) changes and reassignment actions.  Correspond via email with department contacts, advising proper actions, providing proper documents to be administered, and following up to confirm that actions took place.

Apply knowledge of the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) to assist departments and employees with questions about FMLA and leaves of absences. Serve as a resource in assisting with situations involving FMLA and follows up with Leave Administration.  Assist with reviewing cases involving the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

Assist employees regarding employee relations issues, including walk-ins, scheduled appointments, and via email and telephone. Advise employees on informal methods for resolving conflict with supervisors and coworkers.  Conduct grievance investigations (as needed) from point of receipt to final report.

Perform other duties (as assigned).

Advertised Salary:

$16.00 per hour, commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
