Research Administrator III
Grant Management: Responsible for overseeing the development and preparation of grant/contract applications, including clarification of policies with funding agencies; preparing and editing budgets and budget narratives; ensuring all application directives are met and responded to appropriately under strict deadlines. This will include assisting faculty and residents identify possible funding sources for their research, reviewing and approving proposals for signature by the chair, negotiating research contracts, publishing the department's research web page, administering an internal program on the responsible conduct of research, and performing other related duties as assigned. Reviews, negotiates, and approves proposals and contracts on behalf of the department, ensuring compliance with university and federal regulations in the conduct and administration of research.
Administration Research: Promotes and facilitates both clinical and basic science research for the Department of Psychiatry in conjunction with College of Medicine and the Division of Sponsored Research. Provides expertise and advice to faculty and to department and college administrators regarding funding policies, rules and regulations. Provides the faculty information on sources of grant funding through federal, state and private sector organizations/agencies. Assists faculty and staff in grant and contract budget development and the development of competitive proposals and pre-award administration of projects. Provides access to experts for advice on ethical issues by forming a strong relationship with the Internal Review Board (IRB) and to assist the faculty in the submission process, and all details involved. Develops more structured policies to strengthen submissions from the Department of Psychiatry to the IRB. Establishes a faculty interest database in the area of research and sponsored programs; maintains the database. Serves as the Regulatory Manager for all investigator-initiated and ono-pharmacological clinical trials. Serves as back up for the Regulatory Manager of all industry-sponsored clinical trials. Create Database to house all Grants within the Department of Psychiatry.
General administration support for research faculty with various administrative duties to include leave tracking, scheduling meetings etc.
$35,000 - $63,870.
Bachelor degree and three years of experience in grant and contract administration; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
A Master degree in an appropriate area of specialization and four years of appropriate experience.
Knowledge of grants, writing grants, publishing, negotiating research contracts and working with the Internal Review Board.
