The School of Art and Art History invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor who will also serve as the Program Director of the School's Online Master of Arts in Art Education Program. This position will teach graduate and undergraduate residential courses in art education, and online courses in our Masters program; serve on graduate committees; advise students; provide service to the school, college, university, community, and profession; present and publish original research in areas of art education on a regular basis; and provide expertise and leadership in the field at a national and international level.
SCHOOL OF ART + ART HISTORY: Organized within the College of the Arts, the School of Art + Art History plays an important role in the academic life of the university and in the community. The school has 34 full-time faculty, 320 undergraduate students, and more than 120 graduate students. Degree programs include the B.A., B.F.A., M.A., M.F.A., and Ph.D. Areas of study include visual art studies, art history, art education, museum studies, graphic design, and studio art (art + technology, ceramics, creative photography, drawing, painting, printmaking, and sculpture). Also a part of the School of Art + Art History is the University Galleries—University Gallery, the Gary R. Libby Gallery, and Grinter Gallery — which provide exhibition space for professional and student artwork. The University Galleries play an integral role in the teaching mission of the School of Art + Art History, the College of the Arts, as well as serving the entire UF and Gainesville community. The School of Art + Art History is also home to WARP, (the Workshop for Art Research and Practice), the 4Most Gallery, and work and design facilities at Infinity Hall. Applicants must have a Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Art Education, Arts Administration, or a related field at the time of appointment; university teaching experience beyond graduate teaching assistantship, expertise in technology applications in visual arts or design education including online course management systems; experience teaching art in the public schools and/or community institutions, and a strong scholarly agenda in contemporary issues in their field through teaching, research, and service.
