Job Description:

The Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Florida College of Medicine-Jacksonville, seeks an up to full-time faculty member at the non-tenure accruing level of Clinical Assistant Professor. Major responsibilities include providing teaching, patient care and research contributing to an extremely diverse academic eye practice. 

The department offers a wide array of premier eye care services to the Jacksonville community.  Our specialties include cornea and external disease, refractive surgery, glaucoma, anterior segment surgery, diseases of the retina, uveitis, ocular tumors, oculoplastic and orbital surgery, neuro-ophthalmology, contact lenses, low vision and electrophysiology. 

This position will report to the Chairman of the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Florida College of Medicine-Jacksonville.

Following is a general description of duties and responsibilities:

  • Provide clinical evaluation/treatment and surgical intervention for eye structures damaged by disease and accident.
  • Work with current faculty to provide training in glaucoma for medical residents and students.
  • Create, enhance and maintain a prompt, patient friendly, cost effective clinical service.
  • Be responsible for excellent communication with primary care physicians.
  • Provide after hours and emergency on-call coverage.
  • Perform research responsibilities as assigned.
  • Participate in division meetings, administrative functions and institutional committees as requested.

Advertised Salary:

Salary and academic appointment is negotiable, benefits are excellent.

Minimum Requirements:

MD and BC/BE in ophthalmology and fellowship trained in glaucoma.

Preferred Qualifications:

 Post fellowship practice and surgical experience is desirable.
