A postdoc position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Christine Schmidt who is the Chair of the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Florida. This position is for an initial one-year appointment, but has the potential to be renewed for an additional two years. Dr. Schmidt has a long history of training professionals who have entered and succeeded in academic positions. Dr. Schmidt’s research focuses on engineering novel materials and therapeutic systems to stimulate tissue repair, with a particular focus on the repair and regeneration of neural tissue (http://www.bme.ufl.edu/labs/schmidt). Candidates should have background training and experience in biomaterials/scaffold design with either synthetic or natural materials, materials characterization, cell culture, microscopy, basic cell biology and immunocytochemistry assays, and in vitro assessment of cell-biomaterials interactions. In vivo skills and experience with histology and immunohistochemistry are ideal, but not required.
