This position is for an initial one-year appointment, but has the potential to be renewed for an additional two years. Dr. Schmidt has a long history of training professionals who have entered and succeeded in academic positions. Dr. Schmidt’s research focuses on engineering novel materials and therapeutic systems to stimulate tissue repair, with a particular focus on the repair and regeneration of neural tissue ( Candidates should have background training and experience in biomaterials/scaffold design with either synthetic or natural materials, materials characterization, cell culture, microscopy, basic cell biology and immunocytochemistry assays, and in vitro assessment of cell-biomaterials interactions. In vivo skills and experience with histology and immunohistochemistry are ideal, but not required.
